I am a smoker from the UK and I feel so lucky to be able to enjoy this pleasure here! Smoking cigarettes in the UK is much easier than in many other countries; there are also a vast number of different products and brands to choose from.
Cigarette smoking has been popular in the UK for many generations. Many people associate smoking with the cosiness and comfort of British pubs and cafés. Of course, it has long been fewer places to smoke since the indoor smoking ban was introduced in 2007.
Smoking is typically an individual thing. Each person has their own brand they prefer and their own methods for smoking cigarettes. I personally like filtered cigarettes; I think they create a smoother smoke and the filter also prevents my mouth from getting so dry after each puff.
When it comes to the brands, I love the Marlboro range. The Gold and Red flavours are my favourite; they’re the strongest in the range and the most satisfying to smoke. British American Tobacco (BAT) also have a great range of products; the Pall Mall and Benson & Hedges ranges are particularly good.
Cigarette packets are also available in a range of prices, depending on how much you want to spend. I usually go for the mid-priced ones, as I don’t think it’s worth splurging for the more expensive brands. All cigarettes on the UK market now have filters, so you don’t have to spend extra money on unfiltered cigarettes.
The most common way of smoking cigarettes in the UK is with a cigarette holder. This can be made of wood, plastic or metal, but the traditional holders are made of briar wood. I personally prefer them as they are easier to hold and draw smoke through with.
Cigarette rolling papers are also hugely popular in the UK. I typically go for unbleached, as I think they make a cleaner smoke. Hemp papers are becoming increasingly popular, as they are considered the healthiest option.
Smoking cigarettes in the UK is a great experience. There are so many different products to choose from; with everything from the brands, packaging and rolling papers all covered. Of course, the fact that it’s legal helps a lot too!
